Convolution 2014 ‘Halfway Home’ will explore the world of science and science fiction. We will investigate our vision of the future and where we are today. We will explore what life will be like in the future and how recent technological advances are bringing us closer to that vision.
To master space we must be able to not just survive, but thrive in an enclosed ecosystem, whether it be a generation ship, domed city, or space station. How might we produce food, water, and oxygen in the future and what can you do at home today?
New technology, materials, and techniques are allowing rapid advancement in medicine, fabrication, and infiltrating almost every aspect of our lives.
What will the journey between planets be like?
Are we looking in the right places for extraterrestrial life?
How will spaceflight change our social structure?
Will you be commuting with a jetpack or a flying car?
For these and many other questions we will try to determine if we really are halfway home.
